3. Hydrostatic Testing Requirements and Procedure

Key Requirements:

  • Test Standard: ASME Section VIII Division 1.
  • Pressure: 1.5× design working pressure.
  • Hold Time: 2 hours usually we do.

Testing Procedure:

  1. Preparation:

    • Assemble the tube bundle and ensure all openings are sealed with appropriate caps or plugs.
  2. Pressurization:

    • Using a calibrated hydraulic pump, gradually increase pressure to the required test level (1.5× design pressure).
  3. Hold Period:

    • Inspect all welds, connections, and surfaces for visible leaks or deformation
  4. De-pressurization:

    • Slowly release the pressure after the test duration to avoid damage to the tube bundle.
  5. Post-Test Inspection:

    • Record test results and prepare a detailed hydrotest report for client approval
