ASTM A928 is a standard developed by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), officially known as the "Standard Specification for Ferritic/Austrian (Duplex) Stainless Steel Pipe Electric Fusion Welded with Addition of Filler Metal". This standard covers the manufacturing requirements for duplex stainless steel welded steel pipes and is applicable to corrosive environments such as chemical, marine, oil and gas. S32750 is a grade of duplex stainless steel, corresponding to UNS S32750 (Unified Numbering System), also known as 2507 super duplex stainless steel.


The chemical composition of S32750 duplex steel material is mainly composed of Cr, Ni, Mo, N, and Fe. Among them, Cr can improve the corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance of S32750, Ni can improve the stability and toughness of austenite, Mo helps S32750 resist pitting and crevice corrosion, and N can improve the strength and corrosion resistance of S32750.

ASTM A928 S32750 Duplex Steel Pipe Manufacturing process:

  • Electric Fusion Welding (EFW): The electric arc welding process using filler metal ensures that the properties of the weld seam are consistent with those of the base metal.
  • Solution treatment: After welding, water quenching should be carried out at 1050-1150 ℃ to eliminate residual stress and balance the dual phase structure.
  • Non destructive testing: 100% radiographic testing (RT) or ultrasonic testing (UT) to ensure that the weld is defect free.

  • Outer diameter: typically ranging from 1/2 "to 24" (12.7-610 mm).
  • Wall thickness: According to ASME B36.19M standard, the allowable tolerance is ± 10%.
