ASTM A268 is a standard specification for seamless and welded tubes and pipes of ferritic and martensitic stainless steels for general purposes, in grades TP410, TP405, TP420, TP430, TP430Ti, TP403, TP409, TP444, TP439, and TP446, and ASME SA268 is an alternative standard covering a range of nominal thickness grades of ferritic and martensitic stainless steels. grades of ferritic and martensitic stainless steel welded steel tubing for general corrosion resistance and high temperature environments.
Tubing must be seamless or welded with no filler metals added; tubing must be reheated to 1200.F [650.C] or higher and then cooled to meet the requirements of this specification; and all tubing must be free of excessive scale and suitable for inspection. A small amount of oxidation will not be considered scale.
