EN10028 1.4541 F321 Stainless Steel Heat Exchanger Tubesheet PT UT
A tube sheet is a plate, sheet, or bulkhead which is perforated with a pattern of holes designed to accept pipes or tubes. These sheets are used to support and isolate tubes in heat exchangers and boilers or to support filter elements. Tube sheets have different sizes and a series of holes are done to create a place where the tube ends are welded. Also called tube plate. There are two types: floating tube sheet and stationary tube sheet.
Depending on the application, a tube sheet may be made of various metals or of resin composites or plastic.
A sheet tube may be covered in a cladding material which serves as a corrosion barrier and insulator and may also be fitted with a galvanic anode.
Tube sheets may be used in pairs in heat exchange applications or singularly when supporting elements in a filter.
How to judge the tubesheet quality?
The precision of tubesheet processing, especially the pipe hole spacing and pipe diameter tolerance, perpendicularity and finish, greatly affects the assembly and service performance of the above listed chemical equipment.
With the large-scale of chemical equipment and power station, the diameter of tubesheet is becoming larger and larger. The tubesheet with the diameter of 4m-5m is very common.
The characteristics of large tubesheet are large number of holes, dense, small diameter, deep, high precision and finish requirements.
Exchanger Type
Select the type of heat exchanger.
U-Tube has only one tubesheet. The tubes are bent in the form of a "U." The bundle can removed for maintenance, but the inside of the tube is harder to clean because of the bend.
Fixed has two tubesheets that are fixed at each end of the exchanger and are connected to each other by straight tubes. Both the tubesheets are stationary, so differential thermal expansion can develop between the shell and the tubes. An expansion joint is sometimes required to absorb the thermal growth. You must select a fixed type of tubesheet exchanger to perform finite element analysis (YUHONG) on expansion joints.
Floating has one tubesheet that is fixed (stationary) and one that is free to move. Because one tubesheet floats, any differential thermal expansion between the shell and tubes is absorbed. This category of exchangers is the most versatile and also the costliest. Tubes can also be cleaned easily compared to U-tube exchangers.
