ASTM A234 is a standard specification for forged or forged steel fittings, including carbon and alloy steel materials for medium and high temperature service. These fittings include tees, concentric reducers, eccentric reducers, 5D/6D elbows, bends, union fittings, plugs, cross tees, caps and couplings for the fabrication of pressure piping and pressure vessels for use at moderate and high temperatures. WPB is the most commonly used material for medium and high temperature carbon steel fittings today and can be made from steel pipe such as ASTM A106 Gr. C or ASTM A285 GR. C steel plate.

What is ASTM A234 WPB Elbow?
ASTM A234 WPB elbows are the standard specification for forged carbon and alloy steel pipe joints suitable for medium and high temperature service.A234 WPB elbows are divided into two categories that define the distance at which they change direction: the centerline at one end to the face at the other end. This is referred to as the "center to face" distance and is equivalent to the radius of an ASTM A234 WPB elbow when bent. A234 WPB SCH 80 elbow, A234 WPB reducer elbow, A234 Sr elbow, and A234 WPB 90 elbow, manufactured from bar or plate, have a maximum carbon content of 0.35.
