ASTM B165 Monel 400 N04400 Seamless Nickel Alloy Pipe For Sea Water
ASTM B165: It is a Standard Specification for Nickel-Copper Alloy Seamless Pipe and Tube. It covers nickel-copper alloy UNS N04400 in the form of cold-worked seamless pipe and tube. The material shall conform to the composition limits specified. Tension test, hydrostatic test, nondestructive electric test, and rounding method shall be done in accordance to the specified requirements.
Monel 400 is a solid solution bimetallic alloy with high strength, toughness and resistance to a wide range of corrosive environments over a wide temperature range. Nickel-copper 400 has an operating temperature of up to 427°C and, in a sulfur-free oxidizing environment, up to 538°C. The material also exhibits excellent mechanical properties in sub-zero environments. The material has good machinability and can be strengthened by cold working.

Corrosion resistance:
MONEL400 alloy has excellent corrosion resistance in fluorine gas, salt, sulfur, hydrogen fluoride and other derivatives. At the same time, it is more corrosion resistant than other copper-based alloys in seawater.
MONEL400 is corrosion resistant in sulfur with a concentration of less than 85%. MONEL400 is one of the very few important materials that can resist hydrogen fluoride. Water corrosion: MONEL400 alloy has excellent corrosion resistance in most water corrosion conditions, and pores and stress corrosion are rarely found, and the corrosion rate is less than 0.025MM/A.
High temperature corrosion: The highest temperature of MONEL400 working continuously in air is generally around 600℃, and the corrosion rate is less than 0.026MM/A in high-temperature steam. Ammonia: Due to the high nickel content of MONEL400 alloy, it can resist corrosion under anhydrous ammonia and ammoniation conditions below 585℃.
